January Community Meeting Notes

 Here's the January community meeting notes.

Board Award recognition deadline has been extended -- so far, we've got 2 nominations in.

Deb provided a quick summary of the VoluntEARS program and an update on the Cadette babysitting workshop.

No update on Fall Product sale awards yet.

Cookie kickoff now changed to a Cookie Boss event on April 9 at Sea World.

For older girls working on higher award projects, make sure to keep Courtney in the loop.

West Orange has two new leaders who are starting their training!

The December Gifts for Girls donation was 254 pounds!

Cookies

MegaDrop is coming January 22 -- volunteers age 16+ are needed for shifts between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Contact Team Cookies for more info.

Booth lottery was scheduled to open January 18, but some technical issues came up. Updates to come from Team Cookies.

First reorder is due January 30.

Sales run January 23-February 27.

ACH dates are February 14 and 28.

Camporee

March 25-27 at Camp Winona. There will be cabin or tent options.

At least one adult per troop needs to be outdoor trained -- keep an eye on the Citrus website for upcoming dates.

Contact Rachael if you want to volunteer to hep with Camporee. Registration dates and cost details coming soon.

Thinking Day

With the rescheduling of the cookie event, we'll be picking a new date for Thinking Day.

Still looking to do an outdoor trunk or treat type of event. Make sure to submit your choice for countries to the West Orange community email address.

Disney VoluntEARS Deadline Approaching

 Just a quick reminder that Disney VoluntEARS grant deadlines are coming up soon. If you are a Disney Cast Member who has volunteered some time with Girl Scouts, you can enter that information for grants for your child's troop. For more information, search the Hub for information about the VoluntEARS program.

2022 Cookie Season Dates

 It's almost that time of year again -- cookie season is right around the corner. Here's the dates you need to know for 2022.

Initial Order: Due Jan 5th

Mega Drop: Jan 22nd

Cookie Sales: Jan 23-Feb 27

Booth Sales: Feb 4-27

First Bank Draft: Feb 14

Second Bank Draft: Feb 28

Training info has started to roll out to troop cookie chairs. If your troop cookie chair has not received their gsLearn training information, please verify that they are:

1. Registered as a Girl Scout

2. Completed their background check

3. Set as the troop cookie chair in myGS

West Orange Girl Scouts in Winter Garden Holiday Parade

West Orange had a fantastic turnout for this year's Winter Garden Holiday Parade. Great job to all the participating troops!

Gifts for Girls: Keep saving those donations!

 The fall donation drop-off for Gifts for Girls was a huge success. 

If you're doing a little bit of winter break cleanup, make sure to set aside the following items for the spring drop-off:

• Clothes
• Footwear
• Accessories
• Linens
• Small toys (under 14")

Please no Books, CDs, DVDs, large toys, winter coats and boots, electronics, housewares, etc. A full list is available upon request.
